ESB: the know-how of a lightweight mortar maker and a masonry contractor
ESB S.r.l. – Easy and Smart Block is a company of the Edilteco group based in Zanica, in the province of Bergamo, Italy. It develops and sells the SMARTBLOCK® lightweight block system, Malta Block 600 thermal mortar and the equipment to lay them.
How ESB began
ESB was founded on 30 January 2014 as a partnership between Edilteco, a company from San Felice sul Panaro (Modena) that makes EPS-based lightweight insulating mortars and concretes, and MCL Costruzioni Italia, a firm specialised in designing and building masonry.
Knowledge of lightweight materials on one side, knowledge of the building site on the other: SMARTBLOCK® blocks are the result of joint research, aimed at insulating masonry that lays as simply as a traditional block.

- 2014First data sheets of the SMARTBLOCK® range: six densities from 300 to 1200 kg/m³.
- 2020ESB acquires the historic Rosacometta brand, a reference for concrete block and precast production plants.
- 2021–2022New installation manual and new SMARTBLOCK® catalogue.
Trademarks
SMARTBLOCK® is a registered trademark owned by ESB S.r.l. The blocks are made with Politerm® Blu, Edilteco’s EPS aggregate.
From Italy to the world
Over the years ESB has taken the SMARTBLOCK® system beyond Italy: its references include production in Israel with a precast concrete manufacturer, distributors in Norway and Sweden, and a production partnership in Southern Italy.
